Ai Huey Tan, MD, FRCP

Ai Huey is an Associate Professor and Consultant Neurologist at the University of Malaya, specializing in Parkinson’s disease (PD) and movement disorders. She serves in several committees in the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS) including the MDS Education Committee and Evidence-based Medicine Working Groups. She is the current President of the Malaysian Society of Neurosciences (MSN) and Treasurer of the ASEAN Neurological Association (ASNA). Her research focus has been in exploring the role of gut microbiology in neurodegenerative diseases, where she has led multiple case-control studies and clinical trials. Genetics and biomarkers discovery in parkinsonian disorders have been additional research priorities. Other active research interests related to patient care include geriatric aspects, non-motor symptom burden, and patient/caregiver knowledge/perspectives in PD.
