Samantha Gruenheid is a Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at McGill. As a graduate student with Philippe Gros at McGill, she characterized the Nramp family of proteins, including the cloning mouse Nramp 2 (DMT-1). She undertook postdoctoral studies in bacterial pathogenesis with Brett Finlay at the University of British Columbia, and was recruited back to a Faculty position at McGill in 2005.
