Open Science Overview

Open Science is a set of principles that aim to make scientific knowledge openly available, accessible, and reusable in order to increase scientific collaboration and information sharing, with the goal of accelerating the pace of scientific discovery and innovation. At Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s (ASAP), our vision is to facilitate a research environment where meaningful collaboration, research-enabling resources, and data sharing provide the answers we need to understand, diagnose, and treat Parkinson’s disease. Promoting open science is at the core of all ASAP work. Our goal is that by openly sharing the knowledge and resources generated by ASAP, we accelerate discoveries to diagnose and treat Parkinson’s disease.

Open Science Policy

ASAP requires funded grantees to adhere to our open science policy, which consists of five major components.

Thought Leadership

The Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s Initiative is built upon a strong open science policy. We are committed to sharing our philosophy and strategy for implementing our open science policy.

Engaging with the Open Science Community

ASAP is an active member of cOAlitionS, the Open Research Funders Group (ORFG), Incentivizing Collaborative and Open Research (ICOR), and the Research Software Alliance.

Sharing Research Outputs

We are committed to informing the scientific community about available tools and resources by sharing them. Our Catalog lists the ASAP-funded research outputs that are publicly available. Check out ASAP-funded articles, datasets, code, protocols, and key lab materials.
