Arenas Ernest, MD, PhD, is Professor at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. He earned his MD and PhD from the University of Barcelona, has been chairman of the MBB department at the Karolinska Institute and is currently member of the Nobel Assembly in Medicine or Physiology. Ernest has worked for the last 25 years to understand the mechanisms controlling midbrain dopaminergic neuron development, to develop regenerative strategies for PD, and more recently, to understand the molecular mechanisms behind PD and develop novel therapeutic strategies.
