Andreas Pfenning, PhD

Andreas Pfenning, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computational Biology at Carnegie Mellon University’ s School of Computer Science. Having studied as a postdoctoral associate at MIT, his research focused on the role of the immune system in Alzheimer’s disease. Additionally, he studied the evolution of gene regulation associated with vocal learning during his PhD in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics at Duke University. Dr. Pfenning has won numerous awards including a Sloan Foundation fellowship, an AFAR Junior Investigator award, and an NIH NIDA Avenir award.
