Javier Lizarrondo, PhD
Javier is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Dr Florian Wilfling at the Max Planck Institute of Biophysics in Frankfurt, Germany. He holds a BSc in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and completed his MRes thesis at King's College London using NMR and biophysics to study protein-RNA interactions. Javier then completed his PhD in the group of Dr Maria-Garcia-Alai at EMBL Hamburg, where he used structural biology techniques (X-ray crystallography, small angle X-ray scattering and cryo-EM) and biophysical techniques to study endocytic proteins in vitro. His interest in placing molecular interactions in their cellular context led him to his current postdoctoral position, where he uses cryo-ET to investigate how molecular complexes are arranged in cells.
