Javier Hoyo, PhD, is the project manager for Team Vila. He graduated in chemical engineering and chemistry and holds MSc in Molecular Biotechnology and MSc in Chemical Process Engineering. Research lines include: fabrication of micro-/nano-particles & hydrogels and their functionalization using bioactive agents for medical applications (antimicrobial and antibiofilm); and use of natural polymers in multiple applications such materials functionalization (polymeric, paper, and textiles), fluidic paper devices, bioadhesives, and bioremediation.
