Dr. Koroshetz served as Director of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. He joined NINDS in 2007 as Deputy Director. There he co-led the BRAIN Initiative, the Helping to End Addiction Longterm (HEAL) Initiative, the Undiagnosed Disease Network, the common fund program on somatic cell gene editing, the Accelerated Medicine Partnerships in Parkinson’s and ALS. Before joining NINDS, Dr. Koroshetz served as Neurology Vice Chair, Director of stroke and neurointensive care at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) where he worked to pioneer new treatments for severe acute stroke and cared for persons with Huntington’s Disease, Parkinson’s disease and other neurological disorders. He was a professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and led neurology resident training at MGH between 1990 and 2007. He received his M.D from the University of Chicago where he trained in internal medicine before Neurology training and Neurobiology fellowships at MGH/Harvard Medical School. He received his B.S. from Georgetown University.
