Cortico-amygdala synaptic structural abnormalities produced by templated aggregation of α-synuclein
By onPD and DLB involve α-syn inclusions in the amygdala affecting cognition and emotions. Cortico-amygdala synapses with α-syn aggregates show increased volume of synapses, potentially contributing to behavioral impairments.

Dopamine release from Parkinson’s patient-derived neurons is disrupted due to impaired synaptic vesicle loading
By onHuman Parkinson's patient neurons with SNCA-triplication mutation exhibit reduced dopamine release due deficits in dopamine loading and handling.
Selective loss of Primary Cilia and Neurotrophic Signaling in G51D α-Synuclein Mice Highlights a Common Pathway to Parkinson’s Disease
By onG51D α-synuclein mice mimic disease symptoms, showing cilia loss in specific neurons and impaired neurotrophic signaling, contributing to disease progression. This highlights the role of ciliary dysfunction in Parkinson’s.
Cardiac-sympathetic state predicts action restraint, gated by demonstrated agency
By onIn healthy humans, beat-to-beat cardiac contractility during incentivized reaching predicts action restraint. Cardiac-sympathetic outflow flexibly shapes speed–accuracy tradeoffs under reward and loss contexts, beyond simple action mobilization.
Adult-specific Reelin expression alters striatal neuronal organization: implications for neuropsychiatric disorders
By onReelin levels might modulate the numbers of striatal interneurons and the density of the nigrostriatal dopaminergic projections, suggesting that these changes may be involved in the protection of Reelin against neuropsychiatric disorders.
Integrated multi-cohort analysis of the Parkinson’s disease gut metagenome
By onThe authors perform metagenomic sequencing of multiple geographically-disparate cohorts and find that stereotypic changes in the functional metabolic potential of the gut microbiome are a consistent feature of PD.
Expansion and maintenance of human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)
By onThis protocol describes the maintenance and expansion of iPSCs in the adherent culture via single-cell passaging.

Mouse Behavior – Open Field and T-Maze
By onThis protocol describes two behavioral tasks for mice. The first is the Open Field Test, which is used to asses motor behavior, and the second is the T-Maze, which is used to assess spatial learning.
Scalable, flexible carbon fiber electrode thread arrays for three-dimensional probing of neurochemical activity in deep brain structures of rodents
By onThe authors' CFET array has the potential to unlock a wide range of applications, from uncovering the role of neuromodulators in synaptic plasticity, to addressing safety barriers in clinical translation toward diagnostic and adaptive treatment in PD
Live Imaging of Primary Mouse Neuron Cultures
By onThis protocol describes live imaging of primary neuron cultures. Included are methods for preparing hippocampal or dopamine neuronal cultures from neonatal mouse brain tissue. The imaging described involves labeling of dopamine neurons with a fluorescent DAT ligand and using virally encoded pHlourin sensors to measure vesicular release of neurotransmitter as the neurons are electrically stimulated. This technique was used in Jain et al., 2023 to compare vesicular release in neurons between various transgenic knockout mouse lines.
