Sugar Positive Reinforcement Paradigm (Sugar-PR)

Protocol for Sugar Positive Reinforcement Paradigm (Sugar-PR) with optogenetic stimulation. This test utilizes an operant box containing two nose poke devices on each side of a food dispenser. One nose-poke device is designated as "active" and is marked by a light while the other device is "inactive." Depending on the phase of the test, nose-poking the "active" device when the light is on results in a tone, a sucrose pellet delivery, and/or optogenetic stimulation (called "Active delivering NPs"). For 20 seconds after each Active delivering NP, nose-poking the "active" device resulted in no effect ("Active no delivering NPs"). Nose poking the "inactive" device caused no effect ("Inactive delivering/no delivering NPs").
