Subhojit Roy, MD, PhD

Subhojit Roy, MD, PhD, is a professor at the University of California at Davis’ department of pathology and neuroscience. He is trained in neuronal cell/molecular biology and clinical neuropathology. His interest in Parkinson’s and neurodegeneration is long-standing, stemming from a combined residency/fellowship program in Neuropathology at the University of Pennsylvania and subsequent postdoctoral training. Subhojit’s lab has been studying the pathobiology of alpha-synuclein for over a decade, and his group has contributed to the field by proposing a model where alpha-synuclein is a physiologic attenuator of evoked neurotransmitter release. As a neuropathologist, Subhojit has been closely affiliated with the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center cores at the University of California at San Diego and the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and has served as the Neuropathology Core Leader. Subhojit’s group has led many scientific collaborations across the US and the world, and Subhojit has active grants with researchers in France/India (R01 subcontracts) and Israel (US-Israel BSF grant).
