Stereotaxic injection of 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) for dopaminergic lesion models in mice

Output Details

This protocol describes stereotaxic delivery of 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) to generate either a mild medial forebrain bundle (MFB) lesion model in 3- to 5-month-old wild-type C57BL/6J mice. These injections induce a mild toxin lesion in the medial forebrain bundle, resulting in a mouse model routinely used for studying progression of Parkinson's Disease. The workflow includes animal preparation, stereotaxic injection of 6-OHDA, post-operative care, and recovery prior to downstream histological, molecular, or behavioural analyses.
