This protocol describes the steps to perform whole-cell patch-clamp recordings of striatal cholinergic interneurons (ChIs) previously labelled with the fluorophore mCherry from acute, ex vivo mouse brain slices. This version contains an additional step to label astrocytes using the dry SR101.
